Peak
No more juggling 3 apps. One that actually does it all.
At 100kg, I decided to get fit. No cluewhat I was doing.
A gym membership. 3 apps to track myroutines. Claude tying it together.
Every app asked the same questions andgave same generic plans.
Workouts in one app, nutrition in another.None of them talked to each other.
Three different apps track something about you.None of them actually know you.
Too much friction in maintainingthree apps everyday.
Same Questions.Same Answers.
Height, weight, target, and that was it. Generic inputs gave generic plans, which is how I ended up designing Peak.
No room to miss.No one to miss with.
Miss one day and the streak resets. No flexibility for real life and no one pushing alongside you, so motivation ran out fast.
User Research
Before jumping to Figma,I talked to people.
“Five months in and my strengthstill isn’t moving. It’s demotivatingand it’s harder to push alone.”
“Wasn’t born knowing this, yearsof trial and error got me here.Always had a generic plan.”
“I’ve got one app for food, onefor workouts, and none of themtalk to each other. I end upguessing anyway.”
Then I checked Reddit. They had something to say about this too.

I screenshot MyFitnessPal and paste it into ChatGPT every night. There has to be a better way.

Lost 15 kg and half my strength with it. Nobody told me cutting could do that.

Every app asks height, weight, goal. That’s not a plan, that’s a calculator.

Competitive Analysis
Every app is best in their class. But nobody owns the full picture.

Different people.Different stages.Same patterns.
Beginners, advanced lifters, and alot of Reddit threads. The goalswere all different, but the same 5things kept coming up.
Relationship betweenMotivation and Results.
Most people quit in the gap between the two, right when progress is happening but can’t be seen yet.
People don’t just want theplan. They want the why.
Once someone understands why a change works, sticking to it stops feeling like guesswork.
Apparently getting fit is a‘solo cold winter arc’.
It’s treated like a grind you survive alone. But fitness isn’t a phase, it’s a lifestyle, and lifestyles stick when the people around you are in it too.
You grow but plansdon’t grow with you.
A beginner and someone two years in need different things, but the plan never changes. Progress came from trial and error, not the app.
The data’s there. Theconnection isn’t.
Food, lifts and recovery were all tracked, just in separate apps. Nobody was missing data. They were missing one place that put it together.
All these apps are perfect in their own lanes. But this specialization is their ceiling.
Not another app to keep up with. The only app that keeps up with you.
Lift. Tap. Done. Not just logging butunlocking insights.
Build Catalog once.Tap it, type it, scan it - forever.
Type what you ate however you want.
Quickly log your macros by scanning barcode.
Click a photo of nutrition label of the food item.
Power of friendship.Added to Peak.
Testing
I put it in front of people. Two things came straight back.
“I’ve a life, I just wanna log myprotein and lift hard. I’m notliving a miserable life.”
What changed
Tracking stopped being one-size-fits-all. You pick a mode: Chill (just the essentials, like protein and lifts), Detailed (every macro), or Custom (choose exactly what you track). Same app, your level of effort.
“I wanna log my weight inkg, but the lifting weightsin pounds.”
What changed
Units stopped being one switch for the whole app. Body weight and lifting weight each carry their own.
Same people.Now they’re progressing.
“Turns out I wasn’t eating enoughcarbs to grow. Now I know, andI’ve got people checking if Ishowed up.”
“Deleted two apps. One app, andit actually connects the dots. Idon’t guess anymore.”
There’s no finish line.Peak grows with each iteration.
Fix bugs and expand the beta
Being in loop with testers to fix bugs in order to provide a smoother and better experience.
Pre-launch marketing
Building the hype and the story before the launch, focusing on getting Peak to people it was built for.
Launch and iterations.
Launch on AppStore and iterate, improve the app with real user feedback and experiences.
Learnings
What I learned building Peak.
Design. Ship.Listen. Repeat.
My first version felt finished until 20 people used it. The two biggest changes came straight from testers, not from me. Getting it into real hands fast taught me more than another week in Figma would have.
Not one fixed system.Let people make it theirs.
One tester wanted every macro, another just protein, another kg for body weight and pounds for lifts. Every fixed system picks who the app is for. Chill, Detailed and Custom exist because I stopped picking.
Emotions shape behavior.Design for them first.
Emotions drive everything. People didn’t quit over missing features. They quit feeling stuck, judged, or alone. Designing for that shaped the nudges, the modes, even the growth rings.
FAQ
Questions I getabout this one.
Are you building this alone?
Yes. Research, design, brand, and the iOS build. Claude and caffeine was my coding partner for the build, and 20 testers kept me honest.
How did you use AI?
Two ways. Inside the product, AI is the brain that reads your food, training and recovery together. In my process, Claude helped me build faster, so I could test real flows with real people instead of guessing in Figma.
Why build a new app instead of improving an existing one?
Every app I tried was great in its own lane. The problem was the gaps between them, and you can’t fix a gap from inside one lane.
Where is it now? And can I try it?
In beta with 20 users, fixing what they find, ahead of an App Store launch.
